J-POWER USA is a subsidiary of J-POWER (Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.) which was established in 1952 and is headquartered in Japan. J-POWER generates, transfers, distributes and sells electric power using hydroelectric, wind-power, nuclear, coal-fired and other thermal power stations throughout Japan. J-POWER is one of the largest independent power generators in the world, and the largest wholesale utility in Japan with domestic capacity of over 18 gigawatt (GW) and owns equity interests in over 36 Independent Power Producers (IPP) worldwide totaling over 6.6 GW.
J-POWER USA was established in 2005 and is headquartered in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois. Our company has ownership interests in 11 energy projects located around the country, which have a total of 5,400 MW of power generation capacity. J-POWER USA’s facilities are located in 7 states and participate in several of the most competitive power markets in the country.
